The Skytec Sapphire Aero PU glove is perfect for applications that require tactility and cut protection. Too often, users have to choose between safety and being able to perform the task in hand, perfect examples are having to use hand tools such as planes, screwdrivers and measuring equipment.
Many cut resistant gloves rely on heavy gauge yarns such as 13G and 15G to deliver cut protection. Although effective, these thicker threads significantly impact dexterity and feel, in some cases, making them totally incompatible with many industrial manufacturing and site based tasks.
As yarn gauges work by using a higher number as the thread gets finer, an 18G thread is much thinner than 13G and therefore makes for a more flexible and softer glove liner fabric. Technology now allows extremely tough and cut resistant fibres to be woven into very fine gauge fabric, allowing the manufacture of extremely thin, lightweight gloves that feel like a second skin whilst offering high levels of cut protection.
It is often a ‘go to’ practise to choose gloves that offer the highest levels of cut protection, believing that this will ultimately eliminate cut related accidents. However, many operatives simply end up removing the gloves for finer work, therefore, removing any protection whatsoever.
