The larger size of a carpenter’s pencil makes it easier to hold – especially when wearing gloves.
Lead dimension is bigger than a traditional pencil which helps to resist breakage when dropped or during use on rough sawn timber and masonry. The rectangular shape of the lead also allows a thin or wide marking line.
A traditional rectangular profile prevents the pencil from rolling away and allows the user to make consistent and measured lines when running the pencil against flat surfaces by using either the wide, flat side or the narrow edge of the pencil.
