The Manual handling operations regulations 1992 recommend a maximum lifting weight of 25kg for a man and 16kg for a women. A large size Argon or Mixed gas cylinder can weigh in the region of 80 kg which exceeds the recommended weight to be lifted. This is why the so called " bear hug" technique has often been one of the only ways to lift the cylinder onto position on the welding set. The cylinder lifter is a cost effect and safe lifting aid that helps to eliminate any possible health and safety issues whilst removing and replacing heavy gas cylinders. The cylinder lifter reduces the risk of back or muscular injury which can be caused by the traditional method of churning and bear hugging a gas cylinder.
