Grinders & Sanders
Air powered tools are often found in production environments where maintenance, weight and security are concerns. Air sanders and grinders are nearly always lighter and more compact than their electric counterparts and can also offer lower vibration than electric tools. If air sanders and grinders are connected to a clean, moisture controlled air supply the only routine maintenance required is a drop of oil and as most of the wearing parts on air sanders and grinders are seals and bearings, air sanders and grinders can be a low maintenance power tool. The nature of sanding and grinding machines is to remove material which puts large volumes of abrasive particulates into the surrounding area.
Air tools do not require the same open vented cooling as electric tools so the abrasive dust is not drawn into the motor thus avoiding internal damage to the machine. Air sanders and grinders require compressors capable of delivering large volumes of air and since these industrial sized compressors are not likely to be found in a homeowners garage there is less chance these tools are removed from the working environment without prior agreement.
