Screwdriver Bits & Sockets
Screwdriver bits and sockets bring any combi drill, impact driver, drill driver and impact wrench to life, providing the connection between machine, fastener and fixing. There are multiple drive types available on the market for light duty fasteners ranging from Pozidrive, Philips, Torx, Square drive and Hexagon with impact rated sockets featuring a 1/4″, 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″ square recess for bolts, set screws and anchors. Deciding what type of screwdriver bit or socket to choose will be heavily influenced by the machine they are to be used on.
Machines which use a rotary only action can comfortably use hardened screwdriver bits and sockets which are manufactured to resist wear, caused by the interface of bit and fastener. Machines which feature an impact function rely on the screwdriver bit and socket being tough rather than hard to prevent breakage and shattering; in the case of impact wrenches it is essential that impact rated sockets are used to prevent injury occurring.
Unless you are using an impact driver which has its own 1/4″ hexagon chuck, screwdriver bits are usually combined with a suitable bit holder. Screwdriver bit holders are available in different lengths, with flexible shafts, pivoting heads, magnetic collars and impact resistant shanks.
