Collated & Strip Nails
Collated nails and strip nails are designed to be fired by a nail gun for fast, sequential firing. Thinner gauge collated nails are held together with a light adhesive which keeps the nails together until they are separated by the firing action. Strip nails tend to be collated at different angles, this often determines the type of collation method used on the nail. 30-34 degree angled nails tend to use paper collation, this method is very cost effective and because the paper is driven into the base material with the nail there is no waste product left when all of the nails have been inserted.
Plastic strip is popular for nails which are mounted at angles of between 20-22 degrees, it is not susceptible to damp or degradation although it does leave waste plastic material behind and can sometimes get caught under the head of the nail under insertion, causing the head to remain slightly proud.
Wire collations are common on coil nails set at 15 and 28 degree angles, fragments of the wire are left behind which will require periodic clean up of the job site or production facility. Angled nails allow the machine length to be shorter and to gain better access into corners.
Protrade stock a range of collated nails and strip nails from brands such as Tacwise and Spotnails.
