The introduction of cable support systems has allowed contractors to save time on installations as system components can be cut, joined and hung in virtually any configuration. U section channel commonly provides the main structural framework for cable and support systems as it is capable of holding very heavy loads such as air conditioning units and can be bolted together to span large areas such as roof spaces for industrial units and warehousing. 

Using the very wide range of channel bracketry available at Protrade also means that this channel can be cut and bolted together to form cable ladder systems and structural supports to attach pipes and ventilation ductwork. Other components within cable support systems allow cable trays and cable basket to be suspended from purlins and steel girders; this can be in the form of wire rope products which can simply be looped over existing purlins and girders which preserves the integrity of the structural steelwork as no drilling is required. 

Beam clamps can also be attached to the buildings structural steelwork and are typically either hammered or bolted in place using teeth or cone pointed set screws to grip onto purlins and girders. Threaded rod or studding as it is sometimes referred to is a more traditional way of suspending electrical and mechanical services and this can be fixed into concrete ceiling slab using drop-in anchors or fixed into channel using spring nuts or hung from beam clamps.
