How does it tabless technology work?

In the past, the anodes and cathodes inside lithium-ion battery cells were connected to the external plus and minus poles of a battery cell via connecting bands, also known as “tabs”. During challenging applications, these “tabs” act as a bottleneck, constricting the flow of current. This increases the internal resistance of the battery cell, generating heat during high or long-term power output. To protect the battery against overheating, the system regulates the output power.

In 18 volt LiHDX battery packs, the internal configuration of the tabless cells has been changed so that the anode and cathode are completely connected to the plus and minus poles. There are no “tabs” to act as bottlenecks, and internal resistance in the cells is significantly lower. With this design, we release ultimate power for users, meaning better performance, significantly longer runtimes in challenging applications, and shorter charging processes.
