Gedore

Although Gedore is renowned for its premium quality spanners it didn’t actually make its first wrench until 1936, ten years after its relocation to Remscheid-Luttringhausen and still the companies headquarters to this day. Unusual for the time, in 1960 Gedore sought to expand its operation outside of Germany by opening production facilities in Brazil, England, Austria and South Africa. In the same decade it launched a revolutionary tool called the Dremometer – a lightweight, aluminium bodied torque wrench that guaranteed precise torque application no matter where the wrench was held.

Other unique features of the Dremometer included a clever torque adjustment method using a hexagon key, which remained captive inside the body of the tool making accidental torque adjustment impossible during operation. The Dremometer exists to this day and the unrivalled quality remains the same. Torque application tools have remained a key competence of Gedores hand tool portfolio and electronic torque wrenches now also form part of the range. Determined to build upon its reputation manufacturing world class hand tools, Gedore have expanded their range of hand tools to include screwdrivers, pliers, sockets, hammers, ratchets wrenches and pipe tools. In order to keep the workshop tidy and organise the 16000 different products offered by the company, Gedore also has a complete range of premium quality tool storage cabinets and tool boxes.
