Abus
Abus have been manufacturing security products for nearly a century, starting production in 1924 with their ‘Iron Rock’ padlock. Twenty five years later they introduced the Diskus padlock which became an Abus icon. The Diskus has remained almost identical to this day with the only major developments coming in the way of modern production processes. Continually identifying security needs has led Abus to introduce many new products to global markets, including the worlds first bicycle U Lock and telephone lock which worked by preventing the rotation of the number dial.
Now considered a ‘standard product’ on domestic properties, a partnership in 1961 with Italian brand Cisa saw Abus manufacture their first interchangeable ‘Euro cylinder’. Other innovations such as a brand new material named ‘Titalium’, allowed the creation of padlocks which provided high security but with light weight.
