Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing are the 3 M’s that became the 3M™ company that we know today. Although the company initially set out to mine for corundum used to manufacture grinding wheels and sandpaper, it quickly embarked upon a strategy of innovation and product development, creating a path into almost every industry. When one talks of innovation, 3M™ must be considered one of the greats, having been issued with over 100’000 patents and being able to claim that over a third of its global turnover comes from products that are less than 5 years old. 3M™ products include items such as abrasive cloth, masking tape, reflective materials used on safetywear and Post-It notes all started life in the research and development laboratories within the 3M™ company and are just a few of the incredible products we now take for granted in our everyday lives.
